"At the start of my induction programme I was surprised to see that there was a whole day dedicated to ‘the rule book’. You can imagine how de-motivating that felt. I wondered if I’d made a real mistake taking the job. Talk about suffocating creativity. However, nothing could have been further from the truth. The Head of Marketing took the meeting. I was expecting a mind numbing PowerPoint presentation and a standard issue staff handbook. As expected, each one of us was given a large, black book. I opened it ready for the worst and found it was a blank notebook. There was only one printed page in the book and just one slide in the presentation. They read ‘Write your own rule book’."
