CEO mops up oil slick

"I couldn’t believe it. I walked into the reception at work and there was the Chief Exec sweeping and mopping the atrium floor. Think about it. This guy runs an arm of a multinational oil company, operating in over twenty countries around the world. The Group’s turnover is greater than the GDP of some of those countries. But never mind that. It was raining. The floor was wet and muddy. Two of the cleaners were off sick. The CEO saw a job that needed doing and so he did it. He believed that the perception of a single visitor was more important than his own prestige. For me, it’s all about providing tangible leadership."

Peter, 35, Sales Director, Oil Company
