Distinctive venues in the capital city for a team-building event or your next annual conference.
Are you bored of the same old venues? Ever wanted to find somewhere a little bit different to hold your meetings? Well, look no further! Funky, corporate, historical, immersive, scientific, urban. We have them covered!
In the heart of Brixton, you’ll find the multi-purpose venue, Electric Brixton. Dating back to 1913, this Edwardian building has been host to everything from an avant garde cinema to a punk music venue and, more recently, a nightclub. The fusion of modern and historical is evident in the features – some original (the blue and gold decor lends itself to an era gone by) and some contemporary (the furniture and fittings bring it bang up-to-date).
This is a venue that could host just about any event – a product launch, a themed dinner, an awards ceremony, a team building event. It has the capacity for up to 1,500 for live shows or 1,700 for receptions or club events. Dinners for up to 180 can be accommodated or 250/300 for presentations. The technical spec is impressive, with monitors, amplifiers and decks coming out of your ears!
With nearby parking and the closest tube station just 4 minutes away, this venue is as convenient as it is funky. Might as well cover all the bases!
The Royal Institution of Great Britain
You’ve probably been to a lot of meetings in standard, corporate venues. But it doesn’t always have to be that way! The Royal Institution of Great Britain has a selection of spaces for all purposes.
Choose from the Georgian Room (pictured below) – a stunning book-lined reception space with views onto the Atrium, which hosts up 80 as a standing reception (up to 200 including the Library and Writing Room) – to the Lecture Theatre – an amphitheatre with a history of ‘idea sharing’ between scientists, artists, authors and politicians. This room holds up to 400 theatre style.
Also available to privately hire is an onsite café, bar and restaurant. The Ri Bar + Kitchen menu offers a medley of small plates, large plates and deli sandwiches suitable for a light lunch or decadent dining. Situated in central Mayfair, this venue is just 4 minutes from Green Park Tube Station.
The Tower of London
The Tower of London? For a meeting venue? Really? Absolutely! In fact you can hold a conference here, a dinner or reception, or even a music festival in the moat! The Tower of London can accommodate events for 12 to 2,000 people.
With almost 1,000 years of intriguing history, the Tower of London has been enjoyed as a royal palace, served as an armoury and even housed a menagerie! It is home to the Crown Jewels (yes, the real ones!). It is now a historic fortress and a breathtaking venue for events. The Tower tells captivating stories of pain and passion, treachery and torture, and its ancient stones give it an exceptional atmosphere.
The Jewel House (capacity 150 for reception), White Tower (capacity 250 for reception, 80 for dinner), Martin Tower (capacity 12 for dinner) and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (capacity 80 for reception, 70 for dinner, 40 for lunch) are just 4 of the 8 spaces available for exclusive hire.
Access, again, is simple. Four underground stations are nearby, with parking near Tower Hill. By hosting an event here, you will be contributing towards the upkeep of this resplendent building, as funds raised from venue hire go to the Historic Royal Palaces charity, which assists in the conservation of a number of royal palaces.
Cirque Le Soir
Haven’t you always wanted to host a meeting where the resident magicians, dwarves, drag queens, contortionists, strongmen, showgirls, fire breathers and hula hoopers are on hand to entertain you? Well, now you can! Cirque Le Soir is a venue that can accommodate from 200 to 499, depending on the purpose. It even has a spinning vortex tunnel, balloon room, secret hideaway, and ball pit. They would liven up your meeting, wouldn’t they?
This venue has hosted everything from product launches, networking events and teambuilding, to corporate away days and Christmas parties. Since its creation in 2009, Cirque Le Soir London has perfected the immersive experience, and now claims to be ‘setting the world of events on fire’!
For a bespoke event, this venue can ‘conjure up’ a tasty, bespoke cocktails and canapés menu. Cirque Le Soir is situated in Soho, with nearest tube station (Oxford Circus) just a few minutes away.
The Science Museum
To add a scientific dimension to your meeting, there could be no other venue than South Kensington’s Science Museum. With capacity for 10 to 750 guests in one space, or up to 1,500 using a combination of galleries, the state-of-the-art museum has been host to such events as networking meetings, conferences and team building events.
This inspiring and interactive venue has a 414-seat IMAX theatre, motion-ride simulators and a choice of galleries, from traditional to contemporary, accommodating up to 750. Galleries include ‘Energy Hall’, ‘Exploring Space’ and ‘Making the Modern World’ among others, adding an educational element to your meeting! If you prefer, you could always use the Director’s Suite, an elegant Fellows Room, lined with books.
Less than 5 minutes walk from South Kensington tube station and 2 miles from Victoria rail station, the location is central and convenient.
The regeneration of certain areas of London has seen new life breathed into old buildings. Tobacco Dock is one such place. Originally a 19th Century warehouse for products (such as tobacco!) from the New World, it has been relaunched as an event venue, spread over two floors, with 16,000m2 of space.
The venue can host 100 to 3,500 guests in over 70 individual spaces, and has parking for over 800 cars. It is a great setting for training events, conferences, meetings, dinners and, really, just about anything!
With excellent underground and overground transport links, along with the ample parking, getting here shouldn’t be an issue. Once here, quayside views create a picturesque setting.
